About KeyboardKeys

KeyboardKeys exists because switch descriptions are poetry and force curves are data.

Mechanical keyboard culture runs on adjectives — "thocky," "creamy," "molested marbles" — while the actual decision is four numbers: actuation force, travel, pre-travel, and whether it clicks. The database holds the spec-sheet numbers for 16 definitive switches, grouped the way the hobby groups them.

Each entry: force, travel, sound impression, and the honest best-use note — plus what lubing changes.

We are keyboard people and educators, not a vendor. Nothing here sells switches, and the table works offline.

What makes KeyboardKeys different

• Your numbers never leave your browser. Every calculator on KeyboardKeys runs entirely on your device. We never see, store, or transmit the figures you enter — there are no accounts and no server-side processing of your inputs.
• Published methodology. Each calculator page explains the exact formula it uses and the assumptions behind it, so you can check our work or reproduce it in a spreadsheet.
• Free, forever, without a paywall. KeyboardKeys is supported by advertising. There is no premium tier, no email gate, and no upsell.
